Marc Jacobs Sunglasses
Marc Jacobs started his fashion label in 1986 at the ripe old age of 23. That year he was the youngest designer to ever win the Council of Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. In the time since, Jacobs has established a place for himself in American design history that's unlike any other.

Marc Jacobs has a way of anticipating trends and then going a step beyond. He's not so much "out there" like the John Galliano or the late Alexander McQueen, but he's certainly not one to hop on a trend bandwagon just for the heck of it. Every time a new season's collections are about to be presented in New York, the fashion press is eager to get a coveted spot at his shows because you never know whether he's going to delight everyone with a new take on classics, or scare them with designs that we wonder how we'll ever wear (until we do).

He's also known to use unexpected models in his shows, like the gorgeous-as-ever Charlotte Rampling, and his devoted clients include Sofia Coppola, Lil' Kim, Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, Kanye West, and Mischa Barton. Can't quite find a common thread among that list? It's not easy, but all of them are people who don't let others tell them what to wear, and they find their off-beat treasures easily from Jacobs' collections. His collection of Marc Jacobs sunglasses are no different.

The MJ194 is a case in point. This is a women's acetate frame in rich Havana with brown gradient lenses. It's the kind of style a hip 20-something could wear to a party on a yacht and start all the older women's tongues wagging, until they go home and order their own pair. Oversized and square is a description that doesn't do them justice.

"Awesome" comes close. Marc by Marc Jacobs' MMJ079 is a unisex style in a rectangular metal frame with the "Marc" logo on the temples. In a Dark Ruthenium frame with gray gradient lenses, they go a step beyond the traditional rectangular metal-rimmed classic style.

Women who have more of a Miami Beach or Beverly Hills style will like the MMJ043, a rimless mono-lens style with the Marc Jacobs logo and eyelets incorporated into the side pieces, which come in a rich Palladium / Blue palette. The lenses are classic Gray gradient that provide 100% protection from UVA and UVB rays (as do all Marc Jacobs styles).

The MJ016 is Marc Jacobs' take on the classic aviator. This youthful unisex style has a slightly exaggerated aviator shape and brown metal frames, which are not easy to find. The standard, thin metal aviator side pieces feature the Marc Jacobs logo. Like all of Marc Jacobs' styles, even when they're classics, there is always an unexpected twist, in this case the brown metal and the slightly different aviator shape.

There is no mystery why Marc Jacobs has become an icon in American design. His youthful, hip, carefree designs look great and stand apart from the crowd, and his sunglasses are no exception.
